Newsletter tests from Article Database

The detail section contains newsletter or overall article templates. One or more articles can be included by {1} {2} for articles ID number 1 & 2

Some thought as to what an article template is and when it should be invoked should be given. Essentially this web page is already a "template" adding web page material to an already existing structure with menus, headings, etc.

In the case of our article templates, we add another pass such that article information with minimal predefined structure is pulled from the article database with the ID number described above and inserted into the template.

Next consideration to when the article template process should be invoked and when it should not should be given. Obviously if information is not being pulled from the article database, there is no need for the article template process. Currently, the detail items on DrCanning.com page 16 run the article process.

The result from the article process may be used directly for the public or it could be used to produce a "snapshot" that is saved in more permanent form, such as for an email or webpage item not subject to change if the article database changes.

How much formating should be included in the article database. For consistency it is best to do minimal formating, however, we may wish to do some such as br's for new lines rather than having the template engine insert them (which it could do) - let's discuss. Try a few ways and it should become apparent what's best for us.
